DHAKA, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - As part of the preparation for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, the cricketers, split into two teams, will play a two-day practice game, starting tomorrow at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad of the two teams by naming it by Red and Green today. The two teams were named with the cricketers who have been in training for the last one month in Chattogram under the supervision of the board.
The players like Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Towhid Hridoy missed the match as they are engaged in franchise cricket in Sri Lanka and USA. The likes of Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan who are regular in Test team also missed the cut due to their commitment with HP team in Australia.
Bangladesh will leave the country for Pakistan in the second week of August with the first Test starting from August 21 at Rawalpindi. Karachi will host the second and final Test from August 30.
After the Test series in Pakistan, Bangladesh will visit India in September for two Tests and three-match T20 series. They are also scheduled to play four more Tests in this year against South Africa and West Indies.
With a long Test schedule coming, the BCB put a comprehensive plan to prepare the players for longer version format. As part of that plan, two-day and four-day matches are being organized regularly before the Test series.
Red Team: Anamul Haque Bijoy, Abdullah Al Mamun, Saif Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Khalid Hasan, Ahrar Amin Pian, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Naeem Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Shafiqul Islam, Habibur Rahman Sohan.
Green Team: Naim Sheikh, Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, Mohfijur Rahman Robin, Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali Rabbi, Pritom Kumar, Meherob Hossain, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Khaled Ahmed, Ruyel Miah, Mehedi Hasan Sohag, Shihab James.
