DHAKA, Aug 16, 2024 (BSS) - The first four-day game between Bangladesh A and Pakistan A ended in a draw after Bangladesh batters demonstrated yet another poor batting show at Islamabad Club Ground today.
The match which was interrupted by rain repeatedly with the whole third day game being washed out, was largely dominated by Pakistan A.
As the fourth day game began following another rain interruption, Pakistan A declared the first innings with overnight 367-4 in a bid to force a result.
And it looked they could manage a result when Bangladesh batters faltered yet again but thanks to Nayeem Hasan's 55, the visitors could salvage a draw by reaching 153-5 at stumps.
With the deficit of 245, Bangladesh started its second innings and were quickly reduced to 42-2, losing the wicket of skipper Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mominul Haque, who both fell to single digit figure.
Zakir Hasan gave the solidity to make 33. But Pakistan A bowlers were rampant as they had Bangladesh wobbled at 69-4, removing Shahadat Hossain Dipu (14) and Zakir in the space of just one run.
As Pakistan sneaked a chance to force a result, Nayeem Hasan helped Bangladesh A avoid a shameful defeat by striking a counter-attacking 55 off 69 with 11 boundaries.
He was the fifth batter out but ensured that Pakistan A bowlers wouldn't get enough time to bowl Bangladesh A out in the second innings.
Mir Hamza and Mohammad Ali took two wickets apiece for Pakistan A.
Earlier, Bangladesh A were all out for 122 in its first innings.
