DHAKA, Aug 18, 2024 (BSS) - A reckless batting show yet again sank Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team as they suffered a 32-run defeat to Adelaide Strikers to squander a golden chance of clinching the Top End T20 series trophy in Australia today.
Put into bat first, Adelaide Strikers compiled 169-7 at DXC arena in Darwin before they bowled Bangladesh HP out for 137 in 19.5 overs.
Tom O'Connell made team-best 33 ball-53 for Adelaide with five fours and two sixes while Riyan King added 35. Liam Scott chipped-in-with 30.
Pacer Ripon Mondol continued his rich vein of form with 2-37, but he got little support from other bowlers.
Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim though gave Bangladesh a good start in pursuit of a challenging target, the other batters faltered around him to make sure that Bangladesh would taste a defeat by big margin.
Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby was the next best scorer with 21.
Bangladesh earlier at the same day moved to the final, beating Northern Territory Strike by 21 runs while Adelaide crushed Pakistan Shaheens by 30 runs.
