DHAKA, Sept 6, 2024 (BSS)- FIDE master Mehdi Hasan Parag took solo lead in the points table with 5.5 points after the sixth round of Manha’s Castle 26th Open FIDE Rating Chess tournament held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Friday.

Four players shared the second position with five points. They are FIDE master - Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, candidate master Abu Hanif, candidate master Abzid Rahman and Tahmidul Haque.

Five players shared the third position with 4.5 points. They are - FM Subrota Biswas, CM Sakline Mostafa Sajid, CM Shafiq Ahmed, CM Md Sajidul Haque and CM Md Sariatullah.
 
In the day’s fifth round matches, Mehdi Hasan Parag defeated Md. Abu Hanif, Syed Mahfuzur Rahman defeated Md. Abzid Rahman, Shafiq Ahmed defeated Md. Shariatulla, Sakline Mostafa Sajid split points with Md. Shariful Islam and Md. Hasan Imam split point with Rubel Hossain.

The sixth round matches also held on the same day with FM Mehdi Hassan Parag splitting points with FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman and Shafiq Ahmed split point with Sajidul Haque. Md. Abu Hanif defeated Tanvir Alam, Abzid Rahman defeated Abdul Momin, Tahmidul Haque defeated Abhijit Ghosh, Sakline Mostafa Sajid defeated Rashedul Hasan, Subrota Biswas defeated Hasan Imam and Shariatullah defeated Shariful Islam.
