We are morally boosted and confident: Topu

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2024 (BSS)-Centre-back Topu Barman said players are morally boosted and confident after the first match victory against host Bhutan and upbeat to continue the same spree in the second match.

“Look we have no alternative option but to win in the second match because we have already crossed the hurdle by winning the first match which was important for us …. I think we are morally boosted and confident which is very important for our next match…….as a team captain or member if we take to the field with the same spirit and dedication, I think we’ll be able to win the second match against Bhutan as well,” Topu said through a video message during the team’s recovery session held at the Changlimithang Football Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan today (Friday).

The Bangladesh team had their one and half hour recovery session after 1-0 victory against Bhutan in the first match of FIFA Int’l Friendly Series. The second match of the series will be held on Sunday (Sept 8) at the same venue.

Topu also gives credit to his boys for the total team work that brought victory for Bangladesh in the first match.

“Look we worked very hard and the first match victory is the fruit of total team work,” said the defender.
He said the early arrival in Bhutan for the match helped the players fully adapt to the local weather condition which has been good for the team.

The defender also said that the players were calm and played steady football in the first match that helped them to win the match.

Team manager Amer Khan said the players were tensed with the first match…. we had a bad result at this ground against Bhutan, but ultimately we left the field with win and the boys are taking preparation for the second match.

He said the team had recovery session in morning in the field where the players enjoyed fun and game that must help the players mentally to feel better before the second match.
