Shamim elected SACC deputy president

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2024 (BSS)- Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) general secretary Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, who is also president of Zone 3.2 of World Chess Organization, has been elected as deputy president of South Asian Chess Council (SACC).
 
He was elected deputy president of the South Asian Chess Council Congress held in Hungary recently, said a BCF press release today.
 
Dharmendra Kumar, treasurer, All India Chess Federation was elected as the president of South Asian Chess Council.
 
Meanwhile, Hussain Shiyan, president of Maldives Chess Federation, elected as the general secretary and Thinley Palden Dorji, president of Bhutan Chess Federation, elected treasurer while Dharam Bahadur Lama, general secretary of Nepal Chess Federation, was elected vice president.

While Wijesuriya G. Luxman, president of Sri Lanka Chess Federation, Hanif Qureshi, president of Pakistan Chess Federation and Mohibi Abasin, general secretary of Afghanistan Chess Federation, were elected as the executive members.

Nakvanich Sahapol, deputy president of the ASEAN Chess Association and treasurer of the Asian Chess Federation, and Berik Balgabaev from FIDE were elected as observers.
