DHAKA, Oct 30, 2024 (BSS)- Ten more matches -– five of men’s and equal number of women’s section -- of Summer Open Ranking Badminton tournament were held on the fourth day (Wednesday) at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital, said a press release.

In the men’s singles event, Gouran Singho of Alora Shuttler  beat Bishal Shorma of Munnu Medical Hall by 21-11, 21-10 points, Wali Ullah of Munnu Medical College defeated his teammate Mostafizur Rahman Lipton by 21-16, 21-8 points, Sahed Ahmed  of Alora Shuttler outplayed Rounok Nobi of Blue Dhaka by  21-11, 21-10 points, Nazmul Islam Joy Alora Shuttler overpowered Khosjnam Himanshu of Bashundhara Officers Club by 21-16, 21-10 points and Al Amin Jumar of Bangladesh Army defeated Sanathon Singho Anol of Alora Shuttler by 21-9, 21-12 points.

In the women’s singles event, Jarin Iqbal Mohona of Munnu Medical College beat Taslima Taher Tania of STHBC by 21-11, 21-10 points, Brishty Khatun of Bangladesh Army beat Joya Dhor of Chattogram District by 21-1, 21-7 points, SK Protha of Munnu Medical College outclassed Sarika Akter of NPG Real Estate by 21-6, 21-6 points, Mahi Khatun Sumaiya of Tushar Badminton Academy defeated  Tanzila Mahmud of Tariq Badminton by 22-20, 21-6 and Reshma Akter of Bangladesh Army beat Moumi of Nibedita Sporting Club by 21-8, 21-3 points.

The remaining matches of the tournament were in progress till filing of this report this evening.    
       
A total of 320 shuttlers – 270 of men’s and 50 of women’s – from 106 teams are participating in the five-day meet, organize by Bangladesh Badminton Federation.
