33rd National Swimming competition begins Saturday 

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2024 (BSS)-Max Group 33rd National Swimming, Diving and Water 
Polo competition begins from Saturday (Nov 9) at Syed Nazrul Islam National 
Swimming Complex at Mirpur in the capital.

Max Group chairman and Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) senior vice 
president engineer Golam Mohammad Alomgir is expected to open the meet as the 
chief guest at 3 pm.

National Sports Council Secretary (Joint Secretary) Md Aminul Islam NDC, will 
present there as the special guest. Senior officials of Bangladesh Navy will 
also present in the opening ceremony.

Nearly 550 swimmers from 52 teams including Divisional Sports Association, 
District Sports Association, Swimming Club, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha 
Prothistan, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, 
Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh will compete 
in the four-day meet, organized by BSF and sponsored by Max Group. 

BSF will bear the travel, accommodation and food expenses of the swimmers and 
officials of all teams except BKSP and all services teams. Accommodation for 
swimmers and officials has been arranged in swimming complex dormitory, Krira 
Palli-1 and Krira Palli-2.

A total of thirty eight events in swimming (men's-19 and woman's-19) will be 
held in four-day meet. In addition three events will be held in men's diving 
and one in water polo. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be given to the 
winning swimmers. Trophies will be awarded to team champions and runners-up 
teams.

The best male and female swimmers of the competition will also be awarded 
with trophy.

Max Group has been a regular sponsor of national swimming, diving and water 
polo competitions since 2013. Max Group has also sponsored the swimmer talent 
hunt program titled Bangladesh to find the best swimmers. The BSF also 
thanked the Max Group chairman BSF vice president engineer Golam Mohammad 
Alomgir for coming forward to sponsor the competition again.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan is expected to present in 
the closing ceremony on November 12 and distribute the prizes.  

BSF senior vice president engineer Golam Mohammad Alomgir will preside over 
the closing ceremony.

In this regards, a press conference was held today (Thursday) at Bangladesh 
Olympic Association (BOA) Duth-Bangla Bank auditorium to provide all the 
details of the meet.

BSF acting general secretary Selim Mia, its vice president Md. Abdul Hamid, 
Rezaul Hossain Badsha joint secretary Amirul Islam and sponsor Max Group 
representative Ibrahim Kholil Polash were present in the press conference.
