DHAKA, Nov 11, 2024 (BSS) - One more national record has been set on the third
day of Max Group 33rd National Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Competition
held at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur on Monday.
Bangladesh Navy comprising Kajal Mia, Asif Reza, Mahmudunobi and Samiul Islam
Rafi set the new national mark in the men's 4x200m free style relay clocking
08:00.51 erasing their team's previous record of 08:06.01.
A total of 10 events were held on the third day with Bangladesh Navy continue
to dominate the medal tally securing 24 gold, 19 silver and 9 bronze medals
while Bangladesh Army following the Navy with 8 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze
medals.
Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan bagged five bronze medals while
Bangladesh Air Force collected one bronze medal.
The competition also featured men's diving and one in water polo event.
Bangladesh Army emerged champions in water polo event and Bangladesh Navy
became runners-up while Bangladesh Air Force finished third position.
A total of 550 male and female swimmers from 52 teams including different
services, divisional sports associations, district sports associations, clubs
and BKSP are taking part in 38 disciplines of the four-day meet, which will
end tomorrow (Tuesday).
Chief of Naval Staff and Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) president
Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan is expected to present in the closing ceremony
as the chief guest and distribute the prizes.
BSF senior vice president engineer Golam Mohammad Alomgir will preside over
the closing ceremony.
