Kings clinch inaugural Bangladesh 2.0 Challenge Cup title 

DHAKA, Nov 22, 2024 (BSS)-It was magnificent display by Bashundhara Kings as 
they came from behind beat Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-1 goals to win the 
inaugural edition of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh 2.0 Challenge Cup held at 
Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Friday.

In the proceeding, defender Topu Barman, forward Faysal Ahmed Fahim and 
Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferriira scored one goal each for Kings while 
Malian forward Souleymane Diyabate netted a lone goal for Mohammedan, who led 
the first half by 1-0 goal. 

Malian forward Souleymane Diyabate gave Mohammedan a deserving lead early in 
the 7th minute with a brilliant header from inside the danger zone after 
taking a cross from Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday from the left flank.  

After the breather, Kings were desperately looking to stage a fight back in 
the match and their best moment came in the 73rd minute. Unmarked Tapu 
Burman, who stood alone before the open net, flicked the ball to the net 
utilizing a corner kick taken by Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferriira.

Kings took the lead in the 80th minute when Fousal Ahmed Fahim sent the ball 
home with side volley from the close range after taking a cross from Miguel.

Miguel sealed the victory for Kings scoring the third goal for Kings in the 
7th minute of the injury time.

Mohammedan dominated the first half creating number of scoring opportunities. 
They could have been different if they would not waste several scoring 
chances. In the second half, they failed to keep the tempo and Kings made the 
best use of this opportunity. 

Credit must goes to Miguel, who was the comeback hero for Kings in this 
match.

Topu Barman of Kings was named the man of the match for his impressive 
performance in the match. 

With the win, Bashundhara Kings made another history in the new domestic 
football tournament Bangladesh 2.0 Challenge Cup and started the new domestic 
season with a new title.

Prior start of the match, one minute silence was observed in memory of those 
who lost their lives in the anti-discrimination student-people movement. 

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain handed over the trophy 
and cheque of Taka 20 lakhs to the champions after the match. Top officials 
of Bangladesh Football Federation were also present there.
