DHAKA, Nov 27, 2024 (BSS)-Mehidy Hasan Miraz equaled his senior teammate Shakib Al Hasan in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings after jumping three places.
The latest ICC rankings saw both Miraz and Shakib, who last appeared in Test series against India in September, sit at third spot now with Indian spinners duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin occupying top two slots respectively.
Since Shakib has no chance to play Test again for Bangladesh, Miraz has the golden chance to go atop. But for that he has mountainous task at his hands with Jadeja leading with 423 rating points. Ashwin has 290 and Miraz has 269 rating points at this moment.
Miraz's latest improvement in the rankings came after his 68 runs (23 and 45) and four wickets in two innings of the first cricket Test against West Indies in Antigua. Bangladesh lost that Test by 201 runs.
Liton Das and Mominul Haque have inched up a slot each to 32nd and 47th positions, respectively, in the batting rankings while fast bowler Taskin Ahmed's second innings haul of six for 64, which is his career-best figure has lifted him from 67th to 51st position.
Meanwhile, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned to the top of the ICC Test bowlers rankings after claiming eight wickets in the 295-run win over Australia in the first Test in Perth. Thanks to that performance, the right-armer climbed two spots and went ahead of South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada and Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood to reclaim his mantle as the top-ranked bowler in Test cricket.
