DHAKA, Nov 28, 2024 (BSS)-Shakib Al Hasan shined in with all-round performance but could not prevent his side Bangla Tigers from losing to Azman Bolts by 31 runs at the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament today.
Shakib who is leading the Bangla Tigers took one wicket, giving away less than 10 runs per over before hitting a 19 ball-29 not out in what was his side's fifth match in the tournament.
Asked to bat first, Azman Bolts batters hit the Bangla Tigers all corner of the park to rack up a mammoth 133-1 with Alex Hales playing the pivotal role.
In reply, Bangla Tigers were held back to 102-6 in the stipulated 10 overs.
England star Hales smashed 30 ball-75 not out with six fours and as many sixes while his fellow opener Shevon Daniel made 18 ball-27.
New Zealand star James Neesham was unbeaten on 23 after playing just 13 balls.
While all of the Bangla Tigers bowlers, including Afghanistan star Rashid Khan were generous in leaking runs, Shakib put a miserly bowling show as he scalped one for 17 runs in two overs.
Sans Shakib no one could even stand tall with the willow also. Pakistan star Iftikhar Ahmed with 21 off eight balls was the only other apart from Shakib to make some runs. Opener Hazratullah Zazai added 17.
After this defeat, Bangla Tigers went down to eighth spot in the point table in 10-team tournament with two wins from five matches.
