DHAKA, Nov 29, 2024 (BSS)- Bangladesh Women’s cricket team batting coach Nasiruddin Faruk believes Sharmin Akhter Supta’s success in his comeback match was a reward of her hard-work and a proper guidance of Mohammad Salahuddin, senior assistant coach of national male team.

“She (Supta) is a hard working player and her pattern of training was excellent after being dropped from the team,” Faruk told the reporters today.

“She also has been nursed well by Salahuddin. But what I liked most was the pattern with which she continued her training. She followed the process and backed it. She was in good stead in psychologically also.”

After being dropped from the team a one and half year ago, Supta returned to the drawing board to hone her skill more and trained intensively under Salahuddin.

She then made a successful comeback by hitting a record-breaking 89 ball-96 which was instrumental in Bangladesh’s 154-run victory over Ireland in the first ODI.

Thanks to Supta’s aggressive knock, which was the only second 50-plus knock by a Bangladeshi batter at a strike rate over 100, Bangladesh racked up 252-4, which was also their highest ever total in Women’s ODIs.

Supta looked like carrying some niggles after her knock as she had to leave the field with the help of the others.

Bangladesh will take on Ireland in the second ODI tomorrow (Saturday) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to confirm the three-match series.

The team management has already added Dilara Akter to the squad to keep the replacement ready if Supta is unavailable for the second match.
