Rangpur Riders suffer second straight defeat in GSL

DHAKA, Dec 02, 2024 (BSS) - Rangpur Riders, which represented Bangladesh in the Guyana Global Super League (GSL), tasted their second consecutive defeat in the tournament when Victoria inflicted a 10-run defeat on them in Providence.

Put into bat first, Victoria were restricted to 151 but defended the total astutely by holding back Rangpur to 141-7.

Opener Soumya Sarkar was the lone warrior for the side with 42 ball-51, a knock, which was studded with four fours and two sixes. Another opener Steven Taylor made 14 ball-26.

They put on a 51 run off just 4.4 overs to give Rangpur a whirlwind start but the dismissal of Taylor, sparked a collapse as the other batters failed to take the responsibility.

Soumya was the fourth batter out with the scoreboard reading 108-4 in 14.4 overs. The next batters then crumbled under pressure to hand Rangpur the second straight defeat in the tournament. 

In the first match, the conceded a defeat in super over against Hampshire.
 
Opener Black McDonald was the top-scorer for Victoria with 40 while Joe Clark made 32.
