DHAKA, Dec 02, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was unavailable for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL), a domestic T20 tournament of Australia, which is considered as best event after the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rishad could have been only second player from Bangladesh after Shakib Al Hasan to play the Big Bash if he was available for the Hobart Hurricanes, a team which was picked up him.
Basically due to his commitment with the Fortune Barishal in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Rishad had to skip BBL, as the Australian T20 tournament coincide with Bangladesh’s glamorous tournament.
Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner Waqar Salamkheil had already replaced Raisha in the Hobart Hurricanes squad.
Rishad was reportedly to play only three matches for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL’s 14th edition.
But the franchise confirmed that they have opted to go for the Afghan wrist spinner instead of waiting for Rishad.
“The Hobart Hurricanes can now confirm that Afghan star Waqar Salamkheil will join the Purple Army after Rishad Hossain became unavailable for the duration of BBL 14 due to the Bangladesh Premier League,” a Hobart Huricanes press release stated.
BBL 14 is scheduled to run from 15 December 2024 to 27 January 2025. The BPL on the other will start on December 30, 2024 and will run till February 7, 2025.
