Bangladesh become runners-up in T20 Blind Cricket World Cup

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Blind Cricket team became runners-up in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup after tasting a 10-wicket defeat to hosts Pakistan in Multan today.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh put up 139-7 which Pakistan overhauled in 11.2 overs.

A total of six teams took part in the tournament, held in Pakistan's two venues-Lahore and Multan from November 21 to December 3.

Apart from Bangladesh and Pakistan, the other four teams were Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal and South Africa. India were the other team but they eventually refused to play on Pakistan soil.

Bangladesh won all matches to reach the final but couldn't overcome the last hurdle.

The Bangladesh Blind team beat Nepal by 67 runs in the first match, 25 runs by Sri Lanka in the second game. They thereafter beat Pakistan in the third match before securing an 89-run victory over Afghanistan.

Bangladesh in their last group phase match crushed South Africa by 73 runs.

In the semifinal, Bangladesh faced off Sri Lanka and beat them by six runs. Mohammad Salman of Bangladesh was adjudged man of the match for his 97 in the semifinal.

Bangladesh were also runners up in the previous edition held in India in 2022.
