BOA Marathon to be held Dec 20 in capital 

DHAKA, Dec 4, 2024 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) for the first time going to organize BOA Marathon 2024 on December 20 at Jalshiri Housing Project in the capital.

The main object is to organize the marathon to motivate all levels of people for physical activity as well as engage them in physical fitness.
 
The marathon included two races of two distances -- half marathon (21.10 km) and 10 km race, which will be held under the entire supervision of the Bangladesh Army. 

People from all walks of life will be able to participate in the different categories of both races.

The categories are elite class (18 years and above) and general (18 years and above), in 10 km distance general section (14 years the under 50 years) and 10km veteran category (50 years and above). The champion of all categories will get attractive cash prizes.

The BOA Marathon 2024 online registration is going on through the website link and it's expected that 5000 runners will register for the marathon.

In this regard, a press conference was held at BOA auditorium to prove all the details of the marathon today (Wednesday).

BOA vice president and media committee chairman Bashir Ahmed Mamun informed that the decision to organize this marathon was taken at BOA's first meeting by the direction of the BOA president.

Bangladesh Army will extend their all out cooperation to BOA to make the marathon a success, he added. 

Mamun said they have kept attractive prize money for the first second and third place finishers so that the young generation will also be more enterprising and through this marathon the country and nation would be benefited.

He informed that the BOA has a plan to organize this marathon twice a year and foreign runners would be invited to the next marathon.
 
BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza and its treasurer AK Sarkar, were among others, also present at the press conference.

After the press conference, BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza formally unveiled the logo of the marathon.
