DHAKA, Dec 5, 2024 (BSS)-Rangpur Riders put up a strong bowling show to
cruise to a 15-run victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors after defending just
117 in their third match of the Global Super League (GSL) T20 at Providence,
West Indies yesterday.
This was their first victory in the tournament, something which gave them a
slim hope to play the final. They will take on Lahore Qalanders in their last
match tomorrow (Friday), a match that they must win to give them any chance
to play the final.
Earlier, they lost their match to Hampshire in Super Over before tasting a
10-run defeat to Victoria.
The match against Guyana was also their 'do or die' match and they looked to
concede another defeat when they were bowled out for just 117. The bulk of
runs came from the willow of Pakistan recruit Khushdil Shah who hammered 47
ball-58 with two fours and four sixes. The next-best was skipper Nurul Hasan
Sohan's 15.
Guyana's South African recruit Dwaine Pretorius was the wrecker-in-chief with
3-15 while Bangladesh recruit Tanzim Hasan Sakib, South African recruit Imran
Tahir and their own Gudakesh Moti took two wickets apiece.
Rangpur Riders bowlers came up with spirited bowling show to skittle Guyana
for just 102 in 19.1 overs with Shai Hope making highest 35.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi snapped up 4-13 to cause havoc on Guyana and was ably
supported by their foreign recruit Harmeet Singh's 3-12.
Five teams from the five franchisees of different countries are playing this
tournament with Rangpur representing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
