DHAKA, Dec 11, 2024 (BSS)- Yonex-sunrise junior, senior Int'l Badminton tournaments will be held at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium from December 13-21 in the capital.

The junior tournament will begin from Friday (Dec 13) with the participation of three countries. The countries are host Bangladesh, India and Indonesia.

While shuttlers from India, Thailand, Myanmar, Canada, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Japan, Maldives, Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Bulgaria, Uganda, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and England are scheduled to participate in the senior tournament, which will begin from December 17.
The junior and senior tournaments are included five categories. The categories are women's, men's singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles.

A total of 19 countries will participate in the senior-junior competition. According to the entries, nearly 300 shuttlers are expected to participate in this badminton festival.

In this regards, a press conference was held on Wednesday at Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium to provide all the details of the meet. 
Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF) acting president Quamrun Nahar Dana said Bangladesh has achievement of becoming champions previous tournaments, especially in the junior tournament and she is expecting the same success in the junior category this time as well.

In the total budget of Taka 70 lakhs for the two tournaments, prize money of U$ 5,000 and U$ 15,000 will be given in the junior and senior categories respectively.
