DHAKA, Dec 19, 2024 (BSS)- The Victory Day Kabaddi Competition has begun today (Thursday) at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansoor Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital.

Youth and Sports Secretary Rezaul Maksud Jahedi formally inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) vice president and IGP Prison Brigadier General Syed Muhammad Motahar Hussain presided over the opening ceremony.

National Sports Council Secretary Aminul Islam, search committee convener Zobaidur Rahman Rana, BKF general secretary SM Newaz Sohag and other officials of the federation were also present in the opening ceremony.
The competition started with the opening men's section match with Bangladesh Police beat Fire Service and Civil Defense by 56-28 points after leading the first half by 32-15 points. Fire service team got one lona against four lona of Bangladesh Police.
 
Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh, Narail District, Faridpur District and Joypurhat District teams are participating in the women's section while Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Jail and Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense are taking part in the men's section.

The final of the competition will be held on December 24 at the same venue.
