DHAKA, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS)- Fakirerpool Young Men's Club tasted their first win in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football beating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals held at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.
In the proceeding, forward Sayed Hossen Sayem and Uzbek midfielder Sardor Jakhonov scored one goal each for Fakirerpool.
The match was locked goalless at the breather.
After the barren first half, Sayem finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Fakirerpool in the 55th minute while Sardor sealed the victory scoring the second goal for the winning team in the 90+3rd minute of the match.
With the day's win, Fakirerpool opened their account with three points from four matches while the port city team Chittagong Abahani yet to open their account playing the same number of matches.
Chittagong Abahani Limited and Fakirerpool will play their next matches against Dhaka Wanderers Club and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society on December 27 and 28 respectively.
Earlier, Fakirerpool lost all their previous three matches. They lost 2-0 to Abahani Limited Dhaka, 4-1 defeat to Bangladesh Police Football Club and 3-0 defeat to Fortis Football Club.
While Chittagong Abahani Limited also lost their previous three matches. They suffered 7-0 defeat to Bashundhara Kings, 2-0 defeat to Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society 2-0 defeat to Brothers Union Club.
