DHAKA, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS)- The Younex-sunrise Bangladesh Sr. International
Badminton Challenge concluded today (Saturday) at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed
Indoor Stadium in the capital.
In the men's singles event, Viren Nettasinghe of Sri Lanka emerged champion
beating Xiaodong Sheng of Canada 21-12, 21-17 in the final.
In the doubles event, Lau Yi Sheng and Lee Yi Bo pair of Malaysia emerged
champions defeating Muhammad Bariq AI Hanif and Ali Faathir Rayhan pair of
Indonesia 17-21, 21-15, 21-17 in the final.
In the women's singles event, Polina Buhrova of Ukraine emerged champion
beating Lalinrat Chaiwan of Thailand 21-19, 21-19 in the final.
In the women's doubles event, Kodchaporn Chaichana and Pannawee Polyiam pair
of Thailand emerged champions defeating Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr
pair of Ukraine 25-23, 18-21 21-11 in the final.
In the mixed doubles event, Hee Yong Kai Terry and Jin Yu Jia pair of
Indonesia emerged champions beating Navaneeth Bokka and Ritika Thaker pair of
India 21-14, 21-16 in the final.
After the finals, the prize distribution ceremony was held with Youth and
Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain was the chief guest in the ceremony
and distributed the prizes.
Acting President of Bangladesh Badminton Federation Kamrun Nahar Dana
presided over the prize distribution ceremony.
A total of 140 shuttleres -- 112 men and 28 women -- from 14 countries took
part in the five-day meet.
The participating countries are India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada,
Vietnam, Uganda, Japan, Sri Lanka, America, England, Singapore, Ukraine and
host Bangladesh.
