DHAKA, Dec 27, 2024 (BSS)-Mohammedan Sporting Club recorded their fifth straight victory in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football beating Fortis Football Club by 1-0 goal held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday.
In the day's match, Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel scored the all-important goal for Mohammedan in the 17th minute of the match.
Fortis, who suffered their second defeat in the league, however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but could not score any in the remaining proceeding.
The day's win saw, table topper Mohammedan raised their tally to 15 points from five matches while Fortis Football Club remained at their previous collection of five points from the same number of matches.
Mohammedan will play their next match against Chittagong Abahani Limited on January 4 while Fortis Football Club will play against Abahani Limited Dhaka on January 3.
Earlier, Mohammedan beat Dhaka Wanderer Club 6-0 and edged past Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited Dhaka by an identical margin of 1-0 goal and defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-1 goals.
While Fortis Football Club suffered 3-1 defeat to Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society in their league opening match, played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Brothers Union Club, managed a 3-0 win over Fakirerpool Young Men's Club and shared point playing out to a 1-1 goal draw with Dhaka Wanderers Club.
Saturday's matches: Abahani Limited Dhaka vs Bangladesh Police Football Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla and Rahmatganj vs Fakirerpool Young Men's Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
Both the matches kick off at 2.30 pm.
