DHAKA, Dec 31, 2024 (BSS)-Riding on half-centuries from William Bosisto and Mahidul Islam Ankon, Khulna Tigers posted a mammoth 203-4 against Chittagong Kings in their first match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Australian recruit Bosisto who opened the innings made a team-high 75 not out of 50, belting eight fours and three sixes. Ankon who brought up his half-century off just 18 balls, remained not out on 22 ball-59, after hitting one four and six sixes.

The duo hammered 86 runs in just 34 balls in their unbeaten fifth wicket stand to steer the side past 200 runs mark.

After being asked to bat first, Bosisto and Naim Sheikh made a solid start with the latter making 26 off 17 before falling to Aliss Al Islam.

Off spinner Islam, however, was the top bowler for Chittagong by claiming 2-17, Fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed also took two wickets but conceded 45 runs in four overs.

Khulna skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz made run-a-ball-18 before being dismissed by Khaled after which Khulna lost two wickets in quick succession to be on the back foot. Ankon and Bosisto brought the side back in the contest and made them heavy favourite to win the game.
