CHATTOGRAM, Jan 17, 2025 (BSS) - Sharfuddoula Ibn Shaheed Saikat is getting US$2000 per match in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), said BCB’s umpires committee chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu.
Since he is an ICC elite panel umpire, his remuneration in this year's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is therefore much higher than other umpires, Mithu informed.
“He is the first umpire from Bangladesh to be included in the ICC Elite Panel Umpire’s list. So, his remuneration is much higher than the others,” he told the reporters here today.
Umpire Saikat started officiating BPL matches this year with the match between Chittagong Kings and Khulna Tigers last Thursday.
He will stand as umpire in six matches. However, he will not officiate the BPL final as he will be on duty in the upcoming India-England series.
Sharfuddoula was named in the ICC Elite Panel umpire last March. He is also the first Elite Panel umpire to officiate a match in the BPL.
This time, local umpires in the BPL are getting Tk 50,000 per match, which was Tk 35,000 earlier. In addition, the remuneration of international panel umpires per match has been increased to US$600 from US$500.
