CHATTOGRAM, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS)-Chittagong Kings fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed left everyone in awe with his sheer bravery by coming back to cricket just mere two days after the death of his beloved mother.

Khaled came to know his mother's death soon after he led the side to a 45-run win over Khulna Tigers on Thursday, by claiming two wickets for 26 runs in four overs.

His teammates said he was devastated by the news as he entered into the hotel premise with jovial mood. With tears rolling down on his cheek, grief-stricken Khaled immediately rushed to Sylhet to meet her mother for one last time, although knowing that she wouldn't hold him with the affection and pure love with which she received him a month ago.

Khaled thereafter missed the match against Rangpur Riders on Friday, which his side lost.

Teammates were in disbelief when they came to know, Khaled would take the field in the match against Fortune Barishal, specially when they saw how devasted Khaled was when he was met with new of his mother's passing.

But Khaled returned and picked up where he left off. He came up with another superb performance, claiming 2-27, even though it was not enough to resist Chittagong's six-wicket defeat at the hands of mighty Barishal.

Enamul Haque Jr, Chittagong's assistant coach, shared the story in the post-match press conference that how Khaled gathered courage to return to the ground.

"Khaled's courage and selflessness have left everyone in the franchise and team management in awe," Enamul shared.

"We are very proud of him, honestly that in such a difficult situation of his life, he gathered courage to return to the ground. He called me yesterday and asked me what he should do. I thought staying back in Sylhet might deepen his sorrow and that's why I suggested him to comeback, saying that if he returns here, the company of his teammates could give him a feel good environment. And to my surprise, he said he also wants to play the match against Barishal."

"We all are impressed by his bravery. Despite such a major loss, he came back, played, and bowled brilliantly again today," Enamul added.

Barishal's match-winner, Dawid Malan, also took a moment to console Khaled. Despite being on opposing sides, Malan embraced Khaled, offering solidarity and comfort.
