DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS)- Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed underlined Bangladesh's
bowling progress further by reaching a career high position in the latest ODI
rankings updated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today.

Two other Bangladeshi players-- Jaker Ali Anik and Towhid Hridoy-- also
improved their position following the good performance amid the team's
downfall in the ICC Champions trophy.

Taskin Ahmed has made it to the top 30 for the first time after taking one
wicket each against India and New Zealand. Bangladesh though lost both of the
matches to make an early exit from the semifinal race.

Taskin in fact moved up six places to reach 30 with a career-best 528 rating
points. Earlier, his best ever ranking was 33rd.

Towhid Hriody scored a record-breaking century against India in the first
match. His century was first by a Bangladeshi batter against India in an ICC
event. Jaker, on the other hand, was super consistent. He made 68 in the
first match against India before adding 45 against New Zealand in the second
game.

Hridoy has moved up 18 places to reach 64 while Jaker entered into 100 by
reaching 94th position. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (27), Mushfiqur Rahim
(42), Mahmudullah Riyad (43) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (75) moved down from
their position.

Miraz, however, has moved up four places in the bowlers' rankings. The right-
arm off-spinner is tied with Taskin at 30. Mustafizur Rahman is at 36.

Shubman Gill was at the top of the batting rankings ahead of the Champions
Trophy and has further strengthened his position after playing two good
knocks.

In addition, Virat Kohli, who scored a century against Pakistan, has again
entered into the top five. Sri Lankan Maheesh Theekshana is at the top of the
bowling charts. There is no change in the top 10 in the all-rounders'
rankings.

Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi retains the top spot.
