National football team reach Taif safely

DHAKA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh national team reached the Saudi Arabian city of Al Taif at 5am (Bangladesh time) today, to undergo intensive training ahead of AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 qualifiers match against India.

Bangladesh team manager Amer Khan through an audio message informed that everyone in the team is well and healthy. 

Earlier, the national football team left Dhaka on Wednesday last afternoon to conduct the two-week long preparatory camp.

The team will hold their first training session in Taif at 9pm Bangladesh time. This preparation camp will play an important role as the weather and conditions in Taif are very similar to the weather in Shillong, India.

Italian league player Fahamedul Islam is scheduled to join the national team's camp in Saudi Arabia on March 10 while Bangladesh-origin English Premier League player Hamza Chowdhury is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on March 17 to join the team bound for India.

During the two-week intensive training under the supervision of head coach Javier Cabrera, the national team is scheduled to play practice match against Sudan and the local selection.

The national booters will return home on March 17 after completing their intensive training in Saudi Arabia.

Bangladesh will play their away AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers match against India on March 25 in Shillong, India.
