SIRAJGANJ, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - Jahanara High School emerged champions in the Prime Bank National School Cricket Tournament, beating Bahumukhi High School by seven wickets in the final held at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Stadium in the district today.
Organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and under the management of Sirajganj District Sports Association, Jahanara High School won the toss and invited Bahumukhi High School to bat first. Bahumukhi High School were bundled out for a paltry total of 98 runs in 27 overs. In reply, Jahanara High School easily reached the destination, scoring 104 runs for the loss of three wickets in 16 overs.
Jahanara High School bowler Romel, who claimed five wickets in the final, was adjudged man of the match for his impressive performance.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Gonopati Roy distributed trophies to both the teams after the final match.
Md. Nure Elahi, the district's sports officer and member secretary of the ad-hoc committee of the District Sports Association, presided over the award distribution ceremony.
Sirajganj Press Club president and former general secretary of the District Sports Association, Md. Harun Or Rashid Khan Hasan, along with district BNP organizing secretary and former executive member of the District Sports Association Mirza Mustafa Zaman also spoke on the occasion.
District Sports Association Secretary Md. Rezaul Karim, Jahanara High School Principal Md. Sanowar Hossain, Physical Education Teacher Md. Zahurul Islam, Bahumukhi High School Physical Education Teacher Nandita Das, sports organizers Professor Abdul Momin Sarkar and Al Amin Sheikh, and former municipal councilor Md. Alamgir Hossain were also present at the prize distribution ceremony.
