DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh opted to bat first in the first cricket Test against Zimbabwe after its captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
Shanto will lead the side after missing Bangladesh's last Test series against West Indies. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim also returned to the fold along with pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz led the side against West Indies as Bangladesh drew 1-1, courtesy of winning the second Test, a win came that was their first on Caribbean Island since 2009.
Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed, who were given rest from the series and Shahadat Hossain Dipu left out from the squad.
Bangladesh won three tests of its 10 last year, all of which came abroad.
Zimbabwe have not won a test anywhere since March 2021. It lost its last test, a one-off against Ireland in February, by 63 runs in Bulawayo.
Captain Craig Ervine and veteran allrounder Sean William return after missing the Ireland loss.
