DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh is set to host its first-ever tourism-promoting marathon, titled 'Beautiful Bangladesh Run 2025', at Hatirjheel in the capital on Friday.
The event is being organised by the Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), with Rhythm Group as the title sponsor and support from the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), said a press release here.
The run will commence at 6:00 am from the Police Plaza point at Hatirjheel, featuring a 7.5-kilometre competitive race and a 2-kilometre fun run aimed at families and amateur participants.
Over 700 runners from diverse professional backgrounds, particularly from the aviation and tourism sectors, are expected to take part in the landmark event, which aims to promote Bangladesh's tourism potential both locally and internationally.
The initiative is also supported by several notable organisations, including the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Tourist Police Bangladesh, the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB), and the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB).
Adding to the festive spirit of the occasion, social influencer Dr Nasreen Akhtar Shimu will be present, while pace runners such as Shariar Morshed Siddique, Jannatul Ferdous Mitu, Dr Md Naim Hossain Khan, and KM Yasar Arafat Ami will guide participants throughout the run.
Organisers said the primary objective of the Beautiful Bangladesh Run is to highlight and promote the country's vibrant aviation and tourism sectors.
Foreign missions from more than 10 countries stationed in Dhaka are also expected to join the initiative, showcasing Bangladesh's untapped tourism potential on a global platform.
They expressed hope that the event would raise awareness among citizens, particularly the youth, about the importance of responsible tourism.
