Ben Curran wants Zimbabwe to guard against complacency

DHAKA, April 26, 2025 (BSS)-Zimbabwe opener Ben Curran believes that
Bangladesh will come all guns blazing against them following their shock
three-wicket defeat in the first cricket Test in Sylhet.

According to him, the hosts will be desperate to avoid a whitewash when they
play the second and final Test in Chattogram, starting on Monday.

"We are expecting Bangladesh to come really hard at us. We are not expecting
this to be an easy game," Curran told the reporters in Chattogram today.

"We have to work hard for every moment. We can hopefully put in a similar
performance to last game."

Curran said the vibe in the team is excellent following the victory, which
also gave them a lot of confidence.

"The boys are confident. We will keep doing our processes right. Conditions
here (Chattogram) will be different here from Sylhet," the opener said.

"We have to adapt to that as quickly as possible. Each game brings different
challenges, so we look forward to it."

Winning Tests always gives guys confidence. Everyone is going to take
different learning from the win in Sylhet, Curran said.

"As long as we are prepared to move forward as individuals, we are in a good
place."

The victory in Sylhet was Zimbabwe's first win in Test format since 2021.

Bangladesh were bowled out for just 191 runs in the first innings and
Zimbabwe took 82-run lead, having totaled 273 before being all out.

Their pace attack, led by Blessing Muzurabani was relentless as they wrapped
up Bangladesh for just 255 in the second innings and got 174-run target for a
victory.

Zimbabwe, albeit a hiccup, reached the victory mark to also register their
first victory on Bangladesh soil since 2018.

"We are delighted to win the game. It is my first Test win," Curran said.
"It is a great feeling having put in a lot of hard work leading into the
series. Obviously the series is not done. There's a big game to come in the
next few days."

Curran, who is the brother of England Internationals Sam Curran and Tom
Curran, has played four Tests and six ODIs for Zimbabwe so far after making
his debut against Afghanistan in 2024.

Curran Brothers grew up in Zimbabwe before moving to England. Later while his
two brothers-Sam and Tom chose to play for England, Ben returned to Zimbabwe.

He insisted that it's a huge honour for him to represent the country where he
spent his childhood.

"I grew up in Zimbabwe. Circumstances took me to England. I played there for
a few years and then I returned to play for Zimbabwe. It is a great honour
and privilege. I am really enjoying my cricket at the minute."
