DHAKA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - The kabaddi referee training course (Basic Course) concluded at Bangladesh kabaddi stadium in the capital today.

Launched on April 26 last, 75 trainees participated in this course which included 14 women. No kabaddi referee training course was held in the past such a high turnout.

The current committee of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) has taken various steps to restore the lost glory of kabaddi and improve the quality of the game.

Along with the game, the federation has paid special attention to produce good quality kabaddi referees. As part of this, a kabaddi referee training course (Basic Course) was held.

National Sports Council (NSC) Secretary Md. Aminul Islam was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed the certificates among the participants. BKF general secretary SM Newaz Shohag was also present on the occasion.

Speaking as the chief guest, NSC Secretary Aminul Islam thanked the BKF for this initiative saying that: "Training is always good. The BKF has organized this training for referees. This is a very good initiative. We believe that they will be able to use the knowledge they have gained through this training. The more they know, the better they will be able to manage the game. That is why training is very important."

BKF General Secretary SM Newaz Shohag also highlighted the link between quality refereeing and the overall improvement of the game.

"If we can produce quality referees, it will directly enhance the quality of the players. A referee's decisions reflect the players' performances and good referees spread across the country will help in shaping better players," he explained.

The course was directed by Abdul Haque, Joint Secretary of BKF. International referees Monir Hossain, Mokhlesur Rahman and Swapan Khan conducted the training.
