Bangladesh emerge champions in Bangabandhu Jr Badminton

   DHAKA, Dec 9, 2021 (BSS) - Bangladesh emerged champions in the
Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Int'l Badminton Junior Challenge Badminton that
concluded today (Thursday) at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the
city.

   In the mixed doubles all Bangladesh finals, Nazmul Islam Joy and Urmy
Akter pair won the mixed doubles title beating Akib Solaiman and Nasima
Khatun pair by 21-18, 21-14 points.

   In the men's doubles, Sigbat Ullah and Gourab Singho pair of Bangladesh
won the crown defeating their compatriot Nazmul Islam Joy and Babu Mohammad
Russell pair by 21-28-21-15 points in the final.

   Earlier on Wednesday last, Urmy Akter and Smrity Rajbongshi pair of
Bangladesh clinched the women's doubles title beating Farhan Binte Amdad and
Nasima Khatun pair by 21-09,18-21-21-12 points in the final.

   In the women's singles event of all Indonesia finals, Bilkis Parsista
emerged champions beating Rujana by 21-14, 21-13 points to win the title.

   In the men's singles event of all Indonesia finals, Alvi Farhan emerged
champion defeating Iqbal Dayez Shaiputra by 21-19, 18-21, 21-13 points.

   China-Bangla Ceramics managing director and former member of Parliament
Sirajul Islam Mollah was the chief guest in the final and handed over the
prizes. The prize distribution ceremony presided by Bangladesh Badminton
Federation (BBF) president Dr Abdul Malek.  

   Seventy five shuttlers from six countries -- Sri Lanka, the Maldives,
Indonesia, Malaysia, India and host Bangladesh - took part in the tournament,
organized by BBF.
