NSC holds memorial meeting, 'doa mahfil' for ASM Ali Kabir

 DHAKA, Jan 19, 2022 (BSS) - The National Sports Council (NSC) hold a memorial meeting and 'doa mahfil' for late former secretary of the government and Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) president ASM Ali Kabir.

   State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, was the chief guest in the memorial meeting while Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin was present as the special guest.

  The State Minister paid homage to the late ASM Ali Kabir, saying “ASM Ali Kabir was a very gentle man. He was also a very dedicated person in the sports arena.”

  In his professional life, Ali Kabir had played an important role as the Secretary to the Government. He was the secretary of the NSC, the country's top sports body. When he was the secretary, he had played a special role in the development of cricket and other sports in Bangladesh.

  He further said that Ali Kabir successfully served as the President of Bangladesh Athletics Federation, one of the top federations in the country, for more than a decade.

  Additional Secretary (Sports) Mosharraf Hossain Mollah, NSC secretary Parimal Singh, senior officials of Ministry of Youth and Sports and NSC, leaders of various sports federations and prominent sports organizers were also present on the occasion.

  Kabir, chairman of National River Conservation Commission, passed away on January 10 last while undergoing treatment at the city's local hospital at 70.
