DHAKA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - The cabinet has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team on

their historic first Test victory against the hosts on Australian soil.

The congratulatory proposal was adopted during a cabinet meeting held on August 17. Later, on

August 23, it was published in an extraordinary issue of the Bangladesh Gazette.

In the proposal, the cabinet extended its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the

captain, players, coach, support staff, the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and all others associated

with the Bangladesh national cricket team.

The cabinet proposal published in the gazette said that the victory was not just a match win but

a brilliant manifestation of Bangladesh's growing capability, confidence, discipline, team unity,

and competitive mindset in international Test cricket.

It further noted that this achievement would be regarded as a unique milestone in the country's

sporting history.

The congratulatory proposal also mentioned that following this historic victory, the Bangladesh

national cricket team currently holds fourth place in the World Test Championship standings with

66.67 points.

The proposal noted that even Australian captain Pat Cummins admitted that Bangladesh had

surpassed Australia in all departments of the game. The cabinet firmly believes that this

historic success of the Bangladesh national cricket team will further inspire the country's youth

and emerging generation to take up sports, and will further strengthen Bangladesh's prestige and

image on the international stage.
