DHAKA, Feb 15, 2022 (BSS)- The 40th National Junior (U-20) Chess Championships has begun from today (Tuesday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room of National Sports Council old building in the city.
A total of eighty players including two FIDE master, one woman FIDE master and one candidate master are participating in the open section and thirty one players including two women candidate master are taking part in the girl’s section.
In the day’s first round game of the open section, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia beat Ishmam Inan Nasif, CM Manon Reja Neer beat Aayan Kamal Talukder, FM Subrota Biswas Abdul Qayyum, Sakline Mostafa Sajid, WFM Noshin Anjum Ajraf Anan, Swarnavo Chodhury Aleena Amrin, Mohammed Sagar Ullah Arfan Islam, Dibya Das Gupta beat Arian Zahir, Azmaeen Parvez Sayor beat Arik Hossain Eco, Mortuza Mahathir Islam, Sajib Das beat Ariyan Tasfikur Rahman and Mahin Ahmed Shuvo defeated Fabian Ferdous.
In the girl’s section, national woman champion WCM Jannatul Ferdous, WCM Ahmed Walijah beat Arisha Hossain Tuba, Nusrat Jahan Alo beat Alizah Nusaiba Islam, Kazi Zarin Tasnim beat Ayman Noshin and Wadifa beat Marzuka Mukarrama.
The competition is being held in a nine round Swiss-league system.
A total one lac taka prize money - sixty thousand for open section and forty thousand for the girls section -- will be given to the winners.
The second round of both the sections start tomorrow (Wednesday) from 3 PM at the same venue.
