Subrota Biswas takes solo lead after 8th round

 DHAKA, Feb 22, 2022 (BSS) - FM Subrota Biswas of Bangladesh Navy took solo lead in the points table with 7.5 points after the eighth or penultimate round games in the Open section of 40th National Junior (Under-20) Chess Championships now being held at Chess Federation hall-room of National Sports Council old building in the city.

  WFM Noshin Anjum of Bangladesh Navy is following the leader with 6.5 points.

  Six players are sharing the third position with six points. They are FM Tahsin Tajwazr Zia and Swarnavo Choudhury of Bangladesh Ansar, CM Manon Reja Neer of Bangladesh Police, Sakline Mostafa Sajid of Pabna, Mohammed Sagar Ullah of Cox's Bazar and Dibya Das.

  Meanwhile, WCM Ahmed Walijah Bangladesh Navy emerged champion in the girl's section. WCM Walijah earned with maximum eight points after the eighth or penultimate round and clinched the title with last round in hand.

  Kazi Zarin Tasnim of Bangladesh Navy is in second position with 6.5 points and Tasfia Tahsin Prima of Chattogram is in third position with six points while Tasnia Tarannum Orpa is fourth position with 5.5 points.

  Five players earned five points each. They are WCM Zannatul Ferdous and Israt Jahan Diba of Bangladesh Police, Wadifa Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, Omnia Binte Yousuf Lubaba of Chattogram and Alizah Nusaiba Islam. In the eight or penultimate round games of both sections were held today (Tuesday). In the open section, FM Subrota beat FM Tahsin, CM Manon drew with Swarnavo, WFM Noshin beat Mutoza Mahathir Islam, Sajid beat Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Sagar beat Souradip Datta, Azmaeen Parvez Sayor drew with Tahmidul Haque, Mortuza Muhtadi Islam split point with Sajidul Haque.

   In the girl's section, WCM Walijah beat Jannatul Ferdousi, Zarin beat WCM Jannat, Prima beat Israt Jahan Diba, Orpa beat Nusrat Jahan Alo, Wadifa beat Shimon Ahmed, Lubaba beat Marzuka Mukarrama, Ayasa Akter split point with Shoptorshi Rahman and Alizah beat Mst Tanjina Akter Champa.

  The ninth or last round games of both sections will start tomorrow (Wednesday) from 3 PM at the same venue.
