Bangladesh bat first in crucial T20 WC game against Zimbabwe

BRISBANE, Oct 30, 2022 (BSS)—Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan finally won a crucial toss and as expectedly decided to bat first against Zimbabwe in their third game of the T20 World Cup at the Gabba here today.

The game turned to be ‘do or die’ match for Bangladesh after a crushing 104-run defeat to South Africa in the second game. Earlier they won the first game against Netherlands by 9 runs but the massive defeat against the Proteas, what was the biggest ever defeat in the T20 history, put their run rate in jeopardy.

Zimbabwe’s first match against South Africa was washed out before they pulled off a stunning 1-run victory over Pakistan. So they will come up morally high as they have the genuine chance to stay alive for the semifinal race.

For the crucial game, Bangladesh brought up one change with Yasir Ali replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz, which meant Bangladesh want to bolster their batting strength.

Zimbabwe too made one change from the winning squad against Pakistan, including fast bowler Tendai Chatara at the expense of Luke Jongwe.
