‘Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award’ is biggest award for BCB: Papon

DHAKA, Aug 5, 2021 (BSS)—The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon termed the ‘Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award’ is the biggest award for the cricket fraternity of this country.

The BCB has received the award in the best federation / organization category in the ‘Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award’ which was organized this year for the first time.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon received the award today. Sheikh Kamal, The elder son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is considered as the pioneer of modern sports in Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present as the chief guest on the virtual platform at the celebration of the 72nd birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal and the award ceremony of Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award 2021. State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell was also present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister presented awards to a total of 10 sports personalities and two organizations in six categories. After receiving the award for the best federation / organization, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon said, "When the Bangladesh cricket team achieves something, we are naturally very happy like people all over the country. It feels very good.”

Under-19 Cricket World Cup winning captain Akbar Ali has received the 'Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Award' from cricket as an emerging athlete.
