State reform student movement launched from Abu Sayeed’s village

RANGPUR, Oct 31, 2024 (BSS) – The new restructured committee of the State Reform Student Movement was announced and sworn in today at Shaheed Abu Sayeed’s house near his grave in Babanpur village of Madankhali union in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.  
 
The journey of the committee began with the swearing in of the new executive committee members in the ancestral village of the brave coordinator of the anti-discrimination movement, Shaheed Abu Sayeed.
 
On the occasion, the central and Rangpur divisional level leaders of the State Reform Student Movement arrived in Babanpur village and inquired about Abu Sayeed's family members.
 
They visited Shaheed Abu Sayeed's grave and offered ziarat and doa there.
 
Later, the 46-member full committee of the State Reform Students Movement was announced with Ahmed Ishaq as president and Faizullah Noman as general secretary.
 
Lawyer Hasnat Qaiyum, the chief coordinator of the state reform movement and constitutional expert, administered the oath to the leader of the newly formed committee.
 
State Reform Movement Organizational Coordinator Imran Imon, National Coordination Committee Member Samiul Alam Rasu, Dhaka Metropolitan North Coordinator Sadhana Mahal, State Reform Youth Movement Coordinator Mashkur Ratul and Bangladesh Landless Movement General Secretary Sheikh Nasir Uddin were present.
 
Other office bearers in the committee are: Vice Presidents-Lamia Islam and AHM Shaheen, Joint General Secretary-Rokan Usman, Assistant Organizing Secretaries -Rakib Hasan Majumdar and Abdul Al Masood Rana, Political Secretary-Saiful Islam Faisal, Legal Affairs Secretary-Hasna Akhtar Meem, Finance Secretary-Mashuk Noor, Media and Publicity Secretary-Raihan Ahmed Tamim, Office Secretary-Rumayan Tamal, Research and Training Secretary-Asaduzzaman Swadhin, Education and Lessons Secretary-Shafiqul Islam, Literary and Culture Affairs Secretary-Saddam Hossain Ishtiaq, and Assistant Secretaries- Kanak Sarkar, Mohammad Shaheen Alam, Enamul Hasan Trishi, Mizanur Rahman, Shakeel Ahmed, Sheikh Maria, Executive Members: Sulaiman Mahmud, Rafim Hasnat Hizbu, Abu Saeed, Yakub Bin Hossain, Ibrahim Khalil, Afroza Mitu , Ashikuzzaman Ashiq, Abu Hasan Ansari, Habib Khan, Mohammad Afsar Uddin, Alif Sarkar, Sujit Chandra, Shahriar Sohan, Sheikh Maruf, Shahjalal Hossain, Walid Bin Mohammad Machum, Mirza Hamidul Islam Mehran, Ashraful Islam Turya, Morshedul Arefin Rafin, Tasin Zaman. Rohan, Mohammad Ariful Islam, Nazmul Haque Nayan, Mahmudul Hasan Mobin and Nazmul Haque Nahid.
 
Newly elected President of the committee Ahmed Ishaq said the present Bangladesh has once again faced a turning point through the July 2024 mass uprising.
 
“The people of Bangladesh need a state and government system that will ensure the democratic rights of the people. A government that is run by the people's tax money will be accountable to the people,” he said.
 
All the government institutions required by the people will ensure accountability to the people. In order to have such a system, it is necessary to reform the power structure of the constitution.
 
To make the constitution suitable for the implementation of the Declaration of Independence and to reform the laws and regulations governing the government, he said Bangladesh is now ready to accept new politics of reform regardless of party affiliation.
 
“If only students could heed this unmistakable call of history, then in a very short time, Bangladesh will be able to bring home its desired victory, InshAllah…for which people have fought for the past few hundred years,” he said.
 
“The freedom of speech we got through the July uprising. If we want to retain this freedom, we need a new style of politics, a new type of organization keeping this aspiration in mind. And so, the State Reform Student Movement announced a restructured new committee,” he said.
