BHOLA, Jan 5, 2025 (BSS) - Hawaii Beach, located in Monpura upazila, an isolated landscape from the mainland of Bhola district, is becoming popular tourist destination as travellers can enjoy both sunset and sunrise apart from being amazed by stunning natural beauty of the coastline.
Hawaii beach, stretching one-kilometer, is awakened by the waves at the confluence of the Meghna and the Bay of Bengal. Along with the greenery in the mangrove forest, it is filled with the walks of the majestic deer and chirping of birds throughout the year.
The beach looks so panoramic as if nature has arranged the seashore in its own way, much to captivate anyone's eyes. The enfolding of the blue sky and the waves of the sea makes the beach divergent from other seashores of the country, such as Kuakata and Cox's Bazar.
It is rare for any tourist to simultaneously enjoy the blue sky, water, mangrove forest, deer, birds, and the wonderful view of sunrise and sunset together, but if anyone goes to the beach, they will be able to enjoy such beauty altogether.
The locals have named the beach 'Dakhina Hawaii Sea Beach', located at Rahmanpur village under Dakshin Sakuchia union in the southernmost part of Monpura upazila.
With a hope to have a glimpse at the stunning natural beauty, thousands of tourists visit seashore every day.
Abu Jafar, a tourist who came from Dhaka, said, "We are only aware of Cox's Bazar, Kuakata, Sajek, and Jaflong, but many beautiful places of the southern parts of the country still remain untapped."
"Manpura Hawaii Sea Beach is one of those," he said, adding that he becomes fascinated by the unique landscape of the coastline.
Another tourist, Abul Hasnat, who came from Chattogram along with his family, said, "No one can really describe the captivating beauty of South Hawaii Beach and its unique nature is heart-touching."
How to go:
One can come directly to Manpura by launch from Dhaka's Sadarghat, and the fare is ranging from Tk 350 to 1,200.
Apart from this, people can reach there by bus till Sea Truck Ghat, but from there they have to avail vessels to go to the island's beach.
Since the river is calm during the winter season, visitors can also go to Manpura by speedboat. On the other hand, from Bhedauria in Bhola, they can take a bus to Char Fasson Launch Ghat. From there, tourists can go directly to Dakhina Hawa Beach via Janata Ghat in Monpura.
Accommodation and food arrangements for tourists:
There is no accommodation facility adjacent to the beach, but there are two four-story and two-story Dak Bungalows of the Zila Parishad and a Dak Bungalow of the Water Development Board in Monpura district town.
Apart from this, a modern residential hotel has been built on private initiative. The beach can be reached by auto-rickshaw and rented motorcycle from Monpura Sadar. Restaurants located there are offering delicious foods such as winter duck, fresh Hilsa, Rupsi fish, and yogurt to the visitors. The prices of foods are low compared to other tourist destinations.
Local people, who are related to tourism, told BSS that it is important for the government to pay attention to building effective development infrastructures in Monpura so that the country's tourism sectors reap its benefits.
They said if the government patronizes tourism there in a systematic way, the tourism industry will expand to a great extent.
Kabi Simanto Helal, General Secretary of Monpura Press Club, told BSS, "A vested quarter looted the government's money in the name of tourism sector's development during the tenure of the previous government."
"However, after the July-August Revolution, the islanders are dreaming of unfolding a new era in the tourism sector."
Bhola Deputy Commissioner Md. Azad Jahan said, "The government's future master plan for Bhola's tourism industry will delight the people of Bhola."
