COX’S BAZAR, April 2, 2025 (BSS) – Thousands of tourists flocked to the world’s longest natural sea beach in Cox’s Bazar today amid the week-long holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.

On the third day of the Eid, the sea beaches here witnessed huge crowd of tourists, who came here to enjoy the beauty of the sea.

While visiting different sea beaches, people were seen swimming in the sea to cool off from the intense heat at different points including Laboni, Kalatali and Sugandha beaches.

Besides, trained personnel of the private organization Sea Safe Life Guard were observed ready to conduct rescue operations if any tourist goes missing while going out to the sea.

They were keeping an eye on tourists bathing in the sea from several posts set up on the sandbank. The trained personnel were seen prohibiting people from going out to sea for bathing during low tide.

Apart from bathing in the sea, thousands of tourists rush to the 80-kilometer Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on battery-powered easy bikes, auto-rickshaws, or open jeeps and to the Inani beach.

On both sides of the Marine Drive are the Dariyanagar Tourism Village, sky flying parasailing, Himchhari waterfall, the rocky beaches of Inani and Patwartek, and Sabrang Tourism Park.

Many tourists were seen bathing in Dariyanagar, Himchhari, Inani, Patowartek and Teknaf beaches while many tourists claimed that there was still a lack of security in these areas.

Syeda Irin Afrin Jessi came here today with her husband, two children, mother-in-law and younger brother from Cumilla to enjoy the Eid vacation.

She said her children are very happy to be here. They will stay at Cox's Bazar for two days.

“In addition to enjoying the sea beach, different types of cooked dried fish, pickles, and Burmese products are attractive,” Jessi said, adding, the entire Cox's Bazar sea beach area is now bustling with tourists, which feels good and a festive atmosphere prevails here.

According to different sources of hotels and motels, almost all rooms at hotels, motels, guesthouses and resorts in Cox's Bazar city and Marine Drive area have already been booked.

Various hotel owners said that several lakhs of tourists will visit Cox’s Bazar during the Eid holidays until next Saturday.

Already, 98 percent of the rooms in more than 500 hotels, resorts and guesthouses have been booked in advance, they said, adding, the daily capacity of these hotels, guesthouses and resorts is 187,000. They are struggling to handle the overwhelming presence of tourists.

While visiting different spots along the sea beach, the activities of the tourist police in maintaining security, and law and order were observed.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Salahuddin said that the district administration and law enforcement agencies are working hard to ensure overall security of the tourists.

To make the tourists aware, he said, several signboards with cautious message and instructions been put up at different spots including beach points.

The DC said the mobile phone app 'Bhramanik' developed by the district administration remains active. The app can be used by tourists and the general people to ensure safe travel and personal safety.

The app provides all information including hotel rooms, local transportation, and purchasing tickets of public transport.
